Bengaluru Cafe, founded and operated by Sri Saravanan—originally from Bengaluru, India—is an exciting new restaurant now open at 809 N. 2nd Street in Philadelphia.

Inspired by the vibrant city of Bengaluru in southern India, Bengaluru Cafe specializes in authentic South Indian street food and comforting classics. The menu is entirely vegetarian and vegan, offering dishes like masala dosa, Mysore dosa, chaats, vada pav, fresh juices, and traditional South Indian filter coffee.

After nearly two successful years in Fairfax, Virginia, Saravanan is thrilled to bring a second Bengaluru Cafe location to Philadelphia. He chose the city for its dynamic food culture and diverse community.

Why Philadelphia? Saravanan told Philly Grub, “Philadelphia felt like a natural next step. It’s a vibrant food city with a growing audience that appreciates diverse, authentic cuisines. It was a strong opportunity to introduce true Bengaluru-style dosas, filter coffee, and vegetarian & vegan street food in a way that’s both authentic and accessible.”

While Saravanan is not the chef, he is very closely involved in menu development, taste consistency, and overall kitchen direction to ensure authenticity.

The cafe’s interior reflects Bengaluru’s identity as the “Garden City of India,” featuring natural wood seating, bamboo lighting, and abundant greenery for a relaxed atmosphere.
