Cheese educator Julia Birnbaum launched the Philly Cheese School in 2020. Throughout the pandemic, she hosted virtual cheese classes, and now, with her new space at 701 S. 9th Street, she can host in-person BYOB cheese classes. I featured her among four other cheese educators in Philadelphia last year.
“This brand new classroom space is home base for all Philly Cheese School classes and events. 9th & Bainbridge is such an amazing corner and it’s been so much fun getting to meet all our neighbors,” Birnbaum told Philly Grub. “My vision for the space is to continue my mission of advocating for indulgence and cheese love within the Philadelphia community.”
Cheese lovers can attend public events, book private classes for groups of 6-20 (perfect for birthday parties, team building, etc.) or rent the Philly Cheese School space near the Italian Market for private events. Some upcoming events include Cheese Basics Class and Cheese & Cookie Pairing.
