Where To Find Watermelon Cocktails in Philadelphia

I know what you’re thinking. Another cocktail related post? But it’s National Watermelon Day and while watermelon by itself is delicious, it’s even better when combined with spirits. Since this is an adult-based site, I wanted to do some research for you to find delicious watermelon cocktails in Philadelphia.

• Cantina Los Caballitos
  When I’m craving an alcoholic watermelon beverage, this is the first place I think of. Their watermelon margaritas are on point. An absolute must.
• Talula’s Garden
  Talula’s Garden (210 W. Washington Square) has their own watermelon margarita called “The Farmer” and it is made of Jalapeño Sauza, Fresh Lime and Salt.
• Continental Midtown
  Continental Midtown offers the Melon Drop which doesn’t contain fresh watermelon, but is made out of Bacardi watermelon rum, fresh lemon and cranberry juice.
• The Palm
  The Palm Restaurant (200 South Broad Street at Walnut) has a watermelon margarita, too. They’re also serving a watermelon and & Bufala mozzarella Salad today. Update: The Palm informed us that they also have a Watermelon Julep on the cocktail menu.
• Phillips Seafood
  I really wanted to try the Watermelon Cooler during our recent visit, but sadly they had no fresh watermelon. I know it’s not in Philadelphia, but if you have been and you’ve tried it let us know how it is. Hopefully we’ll get down to Atlantic City again really soon to try it.

BONUS WATERMELON COCKTAIL!

Our peeps at Fine Wine & Good Spirits hooked us up with a recipe for Watermelon & Mint Cooler.

• 12 cups seedless watermelon cubes
• ½ cup fresh lime juice
• ½ cup fresh mint leaves
• 2/3 cup Admiral Nelson’s Spiced Rum
• Ice

In a blender, working in batches, puree the watermelon, lime juice and mint until smooth. Transfer the mixture to two large pitchers. Cover and refrigerate. When ready to use, divide the Admiral Nelson’s Spiced Rum and add to pitchers. Top with ice.

Sound refreshing, eh?
