Restaurant reservation and rating site Open Table has named Old City’s La Peg one of the most beautiful restaurants in the U.S. To earn this distinction, they considered a restaurant’s location, architectural elements, and design touches which contribute to a memorable meal and overall pleasant experience.

What caught Open Table editors’ attention was La Peg’s transformation from a turn-of-the-century pumping station to a showstopping fine American brasserie with a nod to its past.

The industrial-chic dining room is adorned with salvaged items from the original building, including tanks, shelves, doors, and even a map of the pumping system. Thanks to the 45-foot tall ceilings and the large windows that span the walls, every seat offers dramatic views of the nearby Benjamin Franklin Bridge, an excellent backdrop to a toast among friends.

Of course, all of that is true, which I described in a review of our visit five years ago. La Peg is a complete alluring package; stunning environment, exceptional food and beverages, and stellar service. It’s a successful Philadelphia restaurant on many fronts, and it’s no wonder it has received this recognition.
