Indian Chaat Factory is a new virtual concept by popular Philadelphia Indian food restaurant Tiffin Indian Cuisine, offering a 100% plant-based menu.

While quite common throughout India, chaats are an unfamiliar offering in the land of chicken tikka masala and saag paneer. These savory dishes, with a Tiffin twist, are a cross between a meal and a snack. All ingredients are plant-based, including yogurt, and are predominantly gluten-free.

Munish Narula, the founder and CEO of Tiffin, explained that Indian cuisine is as big and varied as the country of 1.3 billion people.

“As you travel throughout India, the regional languages, cultures, foods, and spices can be drastically different from one city or village to another. But chaats are a unifying tradition that all Indians agree on.”

With a menu developed by award-winning chef Hari Nayak, Tiffin is currently testing the Indian Chaat Factory concept in its Mount Airy (7105 Emlen Street) and South Philadelphia (1100 Federal Street) locations before rolling it out to all 9 Tiffin locations in the Philadelphia area and South Jersey.

“We decided on an all plant-based menu after hearing from many of our customers that they want more options like this. We have some vegan and many vegetarian options on our Tiffin menu but wanted to excite our Philadelphia fans with something new as everyone is out and about. We knew Indian Chaat Factory would be a delicious way to provide the variety that people are looking for,” said Narula.

Indian Chaat Factory currently has 14 menu items representing the most popular street foods of the subcontinent and includes ingredients like fenugreek sprouts and quinoa.

“We will be adding more items throughout the year plus changing up the preparation to add different sprouts, grains, vegetables, and fruit,” said Narula.

But while the concept, menu, and website are all-new, Tiffin regulars will navigate familiar territory with Chaat Factory’s online ordering portal, loyalty program, and take-out offerings with no delivery charge with a 3-mile radius.

Indian Chaat Factory is open seven days a week from 11:30 to 10:00 Monday through Friday and Noon to 10:00 on Saturday and Sunday.
