Pennsylvania’s Tired Hands Fermentaria Featured In MUNCHIES’ “Craftwerk”

MUNCHIES, VICE’s food channel, presents the fourth episode from its series Craftwerk, which meets with the most innovative beer brewers in the game to uncover their unique histories and the secrets to their success.

The latest episode features Jean Broillet, the brewing alchemist behind Tired Hands Fermentaria in Ardmore, PA. What started out as a hobby in his parents’ garage has flourished into the essential Main Line microbrewery with a nearly cult-like following.

At Tired Hands, Broillet and his team constantly reconstruct expectations of taste, offering a confluence of complex, hop-forward ales like Death Tripper and Chupacabra. Brewing five to seven times a week, Tired Hands is at the forefront of the craft beer game with its constant experimentation.

On the art of brewing, Broillet says, “experimentation has always been at the core of my personal enjoyment and fulfillment from the brewing process. Meaning that I get a kick out of throwing weird shit into the kettle.”

Todd Alström (Founder & Editor, BeerAdvocate) remarked on the series, “Craftwerk lets the people behind the beer tell their own story and gives us a firsthand taste of their attitude, culture and passion.”
